Responsibility

We are aware that the fashion industry faces major challenges: poor working conditions in parts of the supply chain, a high environmental impact, and overproduction. We are aware of this and are still at the beginning of our sustainability journey. At present, we have limited insight into our full production chain and are working to make it more transparent step by step.

People

We work with suppliers in India, China, Turkey, and Italy. We have been working with some of them for more than for more than 10 years. We want to build long-term relationships based on trust and clear agreements, so that we can create quality products together.

IBANA's code of conduct

We have drawn up a code of conduct based on the guidelines of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It sets out basic principles such as no child labor, compliance with legal working hours and minimum wage requirements, freedom of association, and a safe working environment. All suppliers receive this code, but we know that compliance cannot be taken for granted. That is why we are working to systematically monitor how things work in practice.

IBANA's Audit program at factories

Because risks vary by country, we use external audits such as BSCI, Sedex, or SA8000 wherever possible. Not all factories we work with have undergone such an audit. For those that have not, we work together to determine what is needed to arrange one. Until then, we conduct internal checks ourselves in accordance with our code of conduct and ILO guidelines. As part of this, we visit factories in person, discuss any issues together, and consider which improvements are achievable. We are currently doing this in Pakistan and China. We would like to expand this to India and Turkey.

We know that audits do not eliminate all risks and that improvements take time. We therefore continue to evaluate and adapt our approach, and will report honestly on both our progress and the challenges we encounter.
