Suede is back: how to style and care for it

Suede has made a full comeback in the fashion scene. While we mainly saw the material during the colder months, you can now wear it all year round. It feels comfortable, has character and instantly adds something extra to your outfit without being too much. A suede jacket over a simple base immediately creates a striking outfit.

At the moment, natural, understated shades take center stage: Iced Coffee, Ostra Beige, Cashew Brown and Azur Grey. These colors are subtle without being too boring. They combine easily with what you already have in your wardrobe and feel familiar.

The basics

The Jalissa jacket is a great example of suede's versatility. Its relaxed fit and subtle finishing give the jacket a luxurious look. The Jigo jacket is a perfect match, and both jackets are easy to combine with a basic look as well as a more elegant outfit.

The Jeanna jacket has a different fit, with a more tailored silhouette and a round neckline, making it ideal as an extra layer over a basic top. You can wear this jacket both as a jacket and as a blouse, which makes it a versatile piece in your wardrobe.

Pairing suede with white: fresh and feminine

Suede with white is a combination that works with any shade of suede. White enhances the contrast and makes the soft texture of the suede clearly visible without looking too busy. The Panna pants in Cashew Brown with a white blouse works from the office during the day to dinner in the evening. The Colette pantsParla pants and Paylin pants also look great with a white knit or an oversized blouse. The combination of white and suede immediately looks calm and soft.

Denim and suede: the perfect balance

Denim gives suede a relaxed, cool look. Neither material is too harsh, which is why they work so well together. An item such as the Blaire blouse has a tailored cut and batwing sleeves, but pairing it with jeans such as the Pristina pants keeps the look light.

The Joyce jacket in Cashew Brown can be styled in the same way: wear it over a basic top with the Phelan Jeans. Its belt and removable sleeves allow you to wear the jacket in different ways. For those who love statement pieces, the Jeeya jacket in Manteca yellow is a great choice. Its western-inspired fringe instantly adds more character to your denim outfit.

Accessories complete the look

Because suede already has plenty of character, you can go in any direction with accessories. Add a pair of heels and delicate jewelry to make suede trousers or a jacket instantly suitable for a formal occasion. Wear sneakers or loafers underneath for a more casual daytime outfit. A good belt or bag is often all you need to complete the look. And because suede's natural shades are so calm, a bold color in one of your accessories works really well. Choose a statement bag, colorful jewelry or a striking shoe to give your look an extra touch while keeping the base understated.

Care and maintenance

Suede is a natural material and requires some attention, but with the right care it will stay beautiful for years. This helps preserve its texture and remove dust and dirt without damaging the suede.

  1. Use a suede brush, gently brush the material regularly in one consistent direction.
  2. Protect it from rain and bright sunlight, to prevent discoloration. Use our waterproofing spray to protect your suede item from rain.
  3. Treat stains carefully, gently dab a stain with a dry cloth and let the material air-dry. Do not use water or harsh cleaning products
  4. Take stubborn stains to a specialist
  5. Store suede with enough space, always hang jackets on a sturdy hanger and leave your items enough room in the closet so they retain their shape.

With the right care, you can enjoy suede for years. That is why it is not only a stylish choice, but also a true investment. Shop your favorite items here.
